READ WHY PSYCHOLOGY AS A DISCIPLINE, IS A SCIENCE BY "CLIFFORD IGWE.

Psychology as a discipline,has been engulfed with a lot of improper identity crisis occassioned by many scholars.However, several scholars had in the past associated psychology as a discipline that attached himself under social sciences. Others however, is of the view that psychology is neither a science or any part of discipline found at the faculty of social sciences. therefore opinionated that ,psychology is distinctively a discipline that stands on his own.psychology connotes the study of human behaviour and her environment. Psychology came into existence as a subject discipline in the year 1879 by Wilhelm wundt A physiological psychologist by training .who inaugurated the first psychology laboratory at the university of Leipzig in Germany.His brand of psychology is known as structuralism. Structuralism, is the act of investigating the mind and its processes through what is been refers as introspection. Introspection however, is the act of observing and analyzing the structure of conscious processes such as ones thoughts,images,feelings,perceptions, judgement and reasoning. It is however a kind of looking inwardly or a form of self observations. Psychology derives is etymological meaning from the two Greek words called psyche and logos.which stood as a two
 distinctive concept. which is called the psyche.which simply means the mind while logos simply means study.In this regard, this two key words was glued together to give what we now known as psychology. I oftentimes ,disagreed with some of the scholars in the field of psychology who is of the view that psychology is not a scientific course study, but that of a social sciences. while subjecting their claims on some of the psychological traits of social behavior that deals with social psychology. Social psychology, is one of the branches of psychology that deals with how we as humans,relates with one and another in the society and how it affects human personalities in various perspectives. Now let me rebuild ur minds to accommondate and understand why psychology is called and most be known to be a scientific study.

Psychology had never shifted from its core discipline as a scientific study to any forms of social sciences ,but has inbebe s some of the social disciplines into the field of psychology as a subject matter not a discipline.
